Products Don't Fix Relationships: They Help Great Relationships Feel Even Better

If you've ever thought buying a new intimacy product would magically fix your relationship...

I'm going to lovingly burst that bubble.

I know that probably isn't the sales pitch you expected from someone who has spent more than 22 years helping people discover intimacy-enhancing products.

But here's the truth: Products don't fix relationships. People do.

A massage oil won't repair years of resentment.

A vibrator won't replace honest conversations.

A bottle of lubricant won't magically create emotional intimacy.

What these products can do is enhance a relationship that's already built on communication, trust, curiosity, and connection. And honestly? There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting "better."

Let's talk about why.

The Best Intimacy Starts Long Before the Bedroom

Here's a question for you. When was the last time you and your partner had a conversation that had nothing to do with bills, kids, work schedules, or who's taking out the trash?

Exactly. One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that intimacy starts when the bedroom door closes. It doesn't. It starts throughout the day.

It starts with:

  • Feeling appreciated
  • Feeling heard
  • Feeling emotionally safe
  • Laughing together
  • Flirting for no reason
  • Holding hands while watching TV
  • Asking, "How are you really doing?"

Communication is the foundation of intimacy.

Without it, even the fanciest products in the world become expensive drawer decorations.

That's why so much of my coaching focuses on helping couples talk first.

Because when communication improves... Everything else gets easier.

Confidence Is One of the Sexiest Things You Can Wear

Here's another myth I'd love to retire. People often think intimacy begins with looking perfect. Nope. It begins with feeling comfortable in your own skin.

Confidence isn't about:

  • Having a certain body
  • Being younger
  • Wearing expensive lingerie
  • Knowing every move

Confidence is believing you're worthy of love, pleasure, affection, and connection exactly as you are. That's especially important during midlife. Hormones change. Bodies change. Energy changes. Life gets busy.

Many women navigating perimenopause and menopause tell me they feel like strangers in their own bodies.

The good news? Confidence can be rebuilt. Sometimes through coaching. Sometimes through better communication. Sometimes by simply giving yourself permission to explore what feels good now and not what worked ten years ago.

Because confidence doesn't come from products. Products simply support the confidence that's already growing inside you.

"Confidence creates connection. Products simply enhance the experience."

Why Using Intimacy Products Isn't Something to Be Embarrassed About

Can we normalize something? We use tools to improve almost every area of our lives. Reading glasses help us see. Air fryers make cooking easier. Standing desks help our posture. Fitness trackers help us stay active. Yet somehow people still whisper about lubricants, massage oils, or personal massagers.

Why? There's no prize for making intimacy harder than it needs to be. Many intimacy products exist for practical reasons.

They can help with:

  • Comfort during intimacy
  • Relaxation
  • Increased sensation
  • Massage and stress relief
  • Exploring together as a couple
  • Building confidence
  • Adapting to hormonal changes

Especially for women experiencing menopause, vaginal dryness is incredibly common. Using lubricant isn't "giving up." It's simply using a tool designed to make intimacy more comfortable. And comfort often leads to confidence.

Confidence often leads to connection.

Connection often leads to more enjoyment.

See how that works?

Great Relationships Stay Curious

One thing I've noticed after hosting hundreds of girls' nights, couples' events, workshops, and coaching sessions? The happiest couples aren't necessarily the ones who know everything. They're the ones who never stop learning.

They ask questions.

They laugh.

They experiment.

They communicate.

They're willing to say, "Hey...want to try something different?"

Instead of assuming they already know everything there is to know. Relationships thrive when curiosity replaces judgment.

That might mean:

  1. Trying a massage candle.
  2. Playing conversation card games.
  3. Scheduling intentional date nights.
  4. Taking a coaching session together.
  5. Learning about changing bodies during menopause.
  6. Hosting a couples' party with friends.

Growth doesn't have to feel serious all the time.

Sometimes it's actually pretty funny.

And laughter?

That's one of the most underrated forms of intimacy there is.

My Favorite Way to Think About Intimacy Products

After all these years, here's what I want every client to remember.

Products aren't there because something is wrong.

They're there because life changes. Bodies change. Relationships evolve. And we all deserve tools that help us enjoy the journey a little more. Think about it this way.

Buying intimacy products is a lot like buying great cookware.

Sure... You can cook with an old pan. But a quality set of cookware makes cooking easier, more enjoyable, and often more successful. The cookware doesn't make you a chef. It simply helps you enjoy creating the meal.

Relationships work the same way.

Three Things You Can Do This Week

If you want to strengthen your relationship, start here:

1. Have One Honest Conversation

Ask your partner:

"What's one thing that helps you feel more connected to me?"

Then just listen.

2. Schedule Time Together

Not errands. Not grocery shopping. Actual uninterrupted connection.

Even 20 minutes matters.

3. Stay Curious

Whether that's reading together, listening to a podcast, exploring a new product, or simply asking more questions...keep learning about each other.

Because relationships that grow...

Stay connected.

The Bottom Line

Your relationship doesn't need perfection. It needs presence. It needs communication. It needs laughter. It needs curiosity.

And yes...

Sometimes it needs a little help from the right tools. There's absolutely no shame in making something wonderful even better. Because the strongest relationships aren't built by products. They're built by two people who keep choosing each other, day after day.

Think of intimacy products like buying great cookware. They don't make you a chef but they certainly make cooking more enjoyable.

And that's exactly what I want for you: more connection, more confidence, more laughter, and more moments that remind you why you chose each other in the first place.
